History and Philosophy

Founded by Mrs. V. Alamelu Ammal in 1952 at Kanyakumari at the southern tip of India, SKGA is based on the concept of the ancient Ashrams (community with a common goal) and Gurukulas. Child-care services are structured and delivered as within a large extended family where the older members take care of the younger. Modern methods of child care and welfare are delivered in a child-oriented home-like environment where skills and personal life management are developed and encouraged
